Huajatolla – Breasts of the Earth (2018)

Caroline Peters drawings

The 2 mountains in the background are over a million years older than any other in the area. Their name, Huajatolla, means breasts of the Earth and was given to the peaks by the Ute Indians. With modern factories and newly created gravel road set against them, geological time – time anchored in the earth – is isolated and contrasted with time marked by the consumption of the planet and its resources by mankind.
